Antibacterial and
Antiviral Functional Nonwovens

  1. HOME
  2. Antibacterial and Antiviral Functional Nonwovens

Based on development and technological skills cultivated over many years, Kurashiki Textile Manufacturing manufactures various functional nonwovens, and we offer antibacterial and antiviral functional nonwovens to meet the uses and needs of our customers.

Antibacterial and antiviral agents are classified into organic and inorganic agents (including natural agents), and compound agents. These chemical agents are known to possess a variety of characteristics and effects.
Among our organic products we offer functional nonwovens based on chemical agents used in oral hygiene. This guarantees a high level of safety.

Uses

Masks, filters, covers such as for doorknobs or bags, sheets, tapes and other products used for shoe racks etc.

While the antibacterial and antiviral effectiveness of nonwovens processed with various chemical agents have been confirmed, but no guarantees are made regarding the antibacterial and antiviral effectiveness of the displayed products after secondary processing or shaping of processed nonwovens.

Nonwovens processed with organic antibacterial and antiviral agents (quaternary ammonium salt agents and zinc pyrithione (ZPT) agents, etc.)

  • Nonwovens processed with organic antibacterial and antiviral agents.
  • Faster-acting than inorganic agents, and the effect of the chemical agent per unit is said to be great.
  • Nonwovens processed with antiviral quaternary ammonium salt agents have been shown to have a 3.0 times greater antiviral activity value on particular viruses that adhere to fibers, reducing the SARS-CoV-2 and ATCC VR-1679 viruses by more than 99.9%.
  • Additionally, nonwovens processed with antiviral ZPT agents have been similarly shown to have a 2.5 times greater antiviral activity value, reducing the ATCC VR-2127 virus by 99%.
  • Antibacterial and antiviral functional nonwovens processed with quaternary ammonium salt agents make use of the immobilized antibacterial ingredient Etak®.
  • They possess outstanding antibacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.

※Etak® is a registered trademark of Campus Medico Co., Ltd.

Nonwovens processed with inorganic antibacterial and antiviral agents (silver ion, etc.)

  • Nonwovens processed with inorganic antibacterial and antiviral agents.
  • Compared to organic agents, they generally have a wide antibacterial spectrum and possess great durability.
  • The number of particular viruses that adhere to fibers reduced by 99.9%.
  • They have obtained the antiviral processing mark (SEK mark) ATCC VR-1679.
  • They possess outstanding antibacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.

Notes

  • ・Antiviral processing is not intended for the treatment or prevention of illnesses.
  • ・Testing for antiviral agents: Performed by leaving viral strain ATCC VR-1679 (possesses viral envelope) at 25℃ for two hours.
  • ・Antiviral processing does not suppress viral activity.
